“You come down here a lot.”

He looks down at the lad, who has suddenly appeared next to him in beat-up shoes and a navy coat.

Killian nods, looking back out across the harbor, “Aye.”

“Aren’t you cold?” He indicates to his unfastened leather coat and gaping shirt.

He gives the boy a curt shake of his head, “I’m quite accustomed to the frigid air of the coast.”

He can feel Henry’s appraising glance on the side of his face, his coat, but he lets him have a look, lets him piece together the questions that are building in the silence between them. He hasn’t had much to time interact with the boy, but his eyes gleam chestnut and gold and he’s seen that look in Swan’s eyes enough times to know that it’s curiosity being guarded, checked, measured.
